Tarborough Faire Brings Renaissance Merriment to Downtown Tarboro This September
August 17, 2026
Knights, queens, musicians, historical characters, and merry folk are coming to downtown Tarboro this fall for the inaugural Tarborough Faire, taking place Saturday, September 26, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Tarboro Town Common and throughout downtown.
This free, family-friendly event invites visitors to step into a Renaissance-inspired world filled with entertainment, history, hands-on activities, food, shopping, and plenty of opportunities to join in the fun. Costumes are encouraged, so visitors can come dressed for the occasion and become part of the Faire themselves.
A Day Full of Entertainment
The day begins with a Queen's Proclamation and Procession before the Faire comes to life with performances and activities throughout the grounds.
Visitors can watch knights face off during Fight Knight Duels, including an afternoon Championship Duel, enjoy live music from Honeyjacks, and catch performances and presentations on the Main Stage. Throughout the day, roving performers, dancers, minstrels, and historical characters will help bring the Faire to life.
History and hands-on experiences will also be part of the fun. Visitors can explore Sword Circle's encampment, watch demonstrations such as blacksmithing, take a carriage ride, visit a fortune teller, participate in an interactive drum circle, and encounter storytellers and performers throughout the Faire.
Something for the Whole Family
Families will find plenty of activities for younger fairgoers, too. Children can take part in a knighting ceremony, make crafts, enjoy bounce castles and ball pits, listen to children's stories and puppet shows, and embark on a scavenger hunt quest throughout the Faire.
Visitors can also browse vendors and enjoy food trucks throughout the day, while the library will host a Barter Market alongside children's storytelling.
Whether you arrive in full Renaissance attire, bring the kids for a day of activities, come for the performances, or simply want to experience something new in downtown Tarboro, the Tarborough Faire offers plenty of ways to spend a fall Saturday.
